The National Oil Corporation (NOC) of Libya has announced a significant onshore oil discovery in the Ghadames basin, located in the country's northwest. This find, made by NOC's subsidiary, Arabian Gulf Oil Company (ACOGO), is a game-changer for the region and could have far-reaching implications.

The improved security situation in Libya has paved the way for foreign energy companies to explore and invest in the country's vast resources. For instance, Algerian state-owned Sonatrach resumed oil and gas exploration in the Ghadames basin in October, while Italy's Eni has restarted exploration activities offshore, after a five-year break.
